1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how TaleTerra ("we," "us," or "our") processes information when you use the TaleTerra app, website, and related support services. TaleTerra is an AI-powered interactive story app. The current version does not require a user account and does not provide public profiles, comments, direct messages, public content posting, advertising, or paid features, and it does not include third-party analytics SDKs.
2. Information We Process
2.1 Story Content and Preferences
When you create or continue a story, we process the story genre, character details, content preferences, actions, free text, and related story context that you select or enter. We also process AI-generated story text, choices, summaries, and structured state needed to maintain story continuity.
Stories, reading preferences, and session state are primarily stored on your device. To troubleshoot failures, the App may also keep a rolling set of recent request, response, and story-related diagnostic records on the device, which may include recent inputs and AI outputs. To generate and continue a story, the App sends your current input and the necessary story context to a backend service operated for TaleTerra, which then calls third-party AI service providers. TaleTerra does not currently provide a cloud library or cross-device synchronization for user stories.
Do not include real account credentials, government identifiers, payment-card information, precise location, medical or biometric information, personal information about children, or another person's information that you are not authorized to provide in story inputs.
2.2 Device, Network, and Service Information
To connect to the service, authenticate requests, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot failures, we may process a randomly generated installation or device identifier, App version, platform, operating system, language, request time, service responses, error information, IP address, and necessary network metadata. An IP address may be used for network connection, security, and deriving an approximate country- or region-level location.
2.3 Support, Reports, and Rights Requests
When you contact support, report AI output, or submit a privacy, deletion, or copyright request, we process the email address, message, screenshots, relevant input or output excerpts, App version, platform, and other information you provide that is necessary to handle the request.
3. How We Use Information
We use information only to:
- generate, display, save, and restore interactive stories;
- maintain story continuity and character and world state;
- connect, authenticate, secure, and maintain the App and service;
- filter, detect, and address harmful, illegal, or Terms-violating content;
- receive reports, provide support, and handle privacy, deletion, and copyright requests;
- diagnose failures, fix issues, and improve service reliability;
- prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect the rights and safety of users, TaleTerra, and others.
4. How We Disclose Information
We disclose information only as needed for the purposes above to:
- backend and cloud providers operating for TaleTerra, to transmit, process, and secure service requests;
- third-party AI service providers, which receive the current input and necessary story context to generate content and apply safety controls;
- website, email, and support providers, to host pages, deliver email, and handle support requests;
- government authorities, courts, or other relevant parties, when required by law, valid legal process, an emergency safety need, or protection of legal rights; and
- business successors or professional advisers, in connection with financing, restructuring, a merger, acquisition, asset transaction, audit, or legal advice, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Before sending your story input or context to third-party AI for the first time, the App will provide a prominent disclosure and request your explicit permission. If you do not agree, you may choose not to use AI generation features. Providers processing data for us must provide protections consistent with this Policy under their contracts, applicable law, and platform rules.
We do not sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use story content for advertising.
5. Data Retention
- Stories, preferences, session state, and local diagnostic records on your device remain until you use an available deletion function in the App, clear App data, or uninstall the App. Device backups are controlled by your device and platform settings.
- Backend requests, AI inputs and outputs, and security logs are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, troubleshoot, handle a request, or meet a legal obligation, and are then deleted or de-identified. TaleTerra does not retain user stories as a long-term cloud story library.
- Support, report, privacy, deletion, and copyright request records are retained until the request is resolved and may be kept longer as needed to handle disputes, maintain safety, or meet legal obligations.
Exact periods may vary based on the nature of the information, request status, security risk, and legal requirements. We retain information only for the shortest reasonable period needed for the disclosed purpose.
6. Your Choices, Deletion, and Privacy Rights
You may delete stories or local content where deletion is available in the App, clear App data through your device settings, or uninstall the App. Clearing local data does not automatically delete information previously transmitted to a backend or an AI provider, or copies controlled by Apple, Google, or device backups.
You may email support@taleterra.ai to withdraw permission for third-party AI processing or request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information that we can reasonably locate and control. After withdrawing, do not use AI generation features. Withdrawal does not affect processing already completed under valid permission. Because TaleTerra currently has no user accounts and service records may be associated only with random identifiers, we may be unable to reliably associate certain records with you if you cannot provide an available identifier, platform, and approximate dates of use. We will reasonably verify and handle requests as required by applicable law.
Depending on your state of residence and applicable legal thresholds, you may also have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to opt out of applicable sales, targeted advertising, sensitive-data processing, or profiling with significant effects. TaleTerra does not currently sell personal information, engage in targeted advertising, or conduct profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
7. Security and International Processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature and risk of the information, including encryption in transit, access restrictions, data minimization, and provider review. No system can guarantee absolute security.
We and our providers may process information in the United States or other countries where the services operate. Local laws may differ from those where you live. We use contracts and safeguards required by applicable law to protect information.
8. Children's Privacy
TaleTerra is not directed to children under 13, and persons under 13 may not use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact support@taleterra.ai so that we can take appropriate action.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy and will post the revised version and effective date at https://taleterra.ai/privacy/. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice and obtain new permission where required by law or platform rules.
